My Leisure Happiness Path
How I plan to increase and maintain both a leisure lifestyle and my personal happiness throughout my life
When I think of what my happiness path looks like, on a leisurely scale, I see myself doing all the things that I enjoy most. These activities of course need to be optimally arousing, and hopefully they will give me that sense of flow. In my early adult years, where I am now, I plan to keep traveling, be it to a new city, state, or country. Though the cost of travel can be very pricey at times, I feel as if my perceived freedom is at its highest peak, and it offers a high sense of intrinsic satisfaction. I am also able and don’t get tired very often since I am still relatively young.
Long flights, drives, walks, and the like do not put a big toll on my body yet. I also plan to keep an active lifestyle of eating well and exercising. Hiking is something that I plan to do throughout my early adult years, and hopefully well into my later middle years. In my early adult years, I also will be staying as playful as possible. I plan to be surrounded by my younger cousins throughout the years to come and playing pranks and just being silly is something I plan to do with them, as well as with nieces and nephews. Once COIVD is safer, I plan on attending concerts. I have only ever been to 2 concerts in my life, and I am planning on going to more because the vibes you get from the performer and the atmosphere of the other attendees is amazing. I also plan to work in a job that I genuinely enjoy. I hope that once I graduate, I will land a job that is not only extrinsically satisfying, but where I also feel a great deal of intrinsic satisfaction and motivation.
In my early middle years, I plan to keep myself healthy and happy by continuing to travel. I also plan on reading more for pleasure, even if I’m reading multiple books at the same time, which I hope will not be due to the books being sub-optimally arousing. I hope I will be married and planning to have children. One cannot predict the future, but I hope to have a significant other to share my leisurely experiences with and vice versa. I also plan to run a full marathon in Okinawa Japan, so I plan to be running very consistently. I find it stress relieving and it offers a sense of self reward when accomplishing any length of a run. I plan to try new things, such as learning to surf which is something I have never tried, but I love the beach so much that is something I plan to do. I plan to be making enough money to have the freedom to do what I want without any financial stress.
In my later middle years, I plan to keep my family close and spend time with them. I plan to still be healthy and capable of doing certain exercises or activities such as hiking. I plan to visit national parks because i have yet to see many of them. I plan to connect with the earth through a practice of grounding. I plan to travel. I hope that I will have the energy to hike and visit parks. I plan to retire. I plan to be part of a group of people who play pickleball.
In my senior years, I plan to relax. I plan to stay active with walks, and I plan to be able to still be playful. I plan to have plants and loads of them. I plan to keep myself optimally aroused with activities such as pickleball, chess, reading, and more.
It is honestly hard to plan for anything in the future, but I know what is important to me. I plan to keep my family and friends close, travel near and far, stay active outdoors (exploring nature), find the right job, make no more than $83,000 a year, challenge myself with running events, relax, and not care what people think about me, especially if it is negative. I plan to live a life of surprise because I am a last-minute kind of person, and spontaneous as well. I plan to stay playful throughout my entire life such as calling my brother to come outside his house as if I’m there, but I’m actually at home. I plan to love, and not take everything too seriously.
